School can be tough- but staying healthy during the school year shouldn't be a struggle! Check out our top 4 tips for promoting self-care during your upcoming school year:

1. Stay Relaxed

Here’s how: Make an effort to incorporate self-care into your weekly routine. Need some ideas? Check out our Mind-Body Guide for things you can try. Some simple things that you can try are yoga, meditation, and even committing to 7 hours of sleep.

2. Eat Right

Here’s how: When you go shopping select more lean poultry, fish, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables as opposed to fattier, red meats, and processed starches. Looking for another trick? Eat breakfast. Eating breakfast is a great way to kick start your metabolism & give you the energy you need to stay focused.

3. Keep Moving

Here’s how: Get more steps into your day by taking the longer route on your walk to class. Looking for an easier place to start? Stand up. That’s right; simply standing up each hour can make an impact as sitting for lengthy periods of time has shown to have negative consequences on your health.

4. Sit Up Straight

Here’s how: Ditch a slouching posture by being mindful of how you are sitting while in class or studying. Your back and neck will be sure to thank you. Check out our infographic for tips on how you can set up your workspace so you can avoid back and neck pain.

Preventative care is always the most effective way to stay healthy when it’s back-to-school time. Making a few adjustments to your daily and weekly routines and being more mindful of your health will help set you up for success this year.
